Description

While searching for remaining Powermate images that I might have forgotten I found that I had data for these 2 Sharpless objects taken with the reducer. Since both of them are relatively "unknown" I did not expect anything special. Now I have to say that they are underrated, did not expect the amount of signal in all 3 narrow band channels especially for Sh2-280. Taken during a "cold spell" last November I was able to lower the camera temperature to -25C, which helped to keep the noise level as low as possible.

Unfortunately I did not get any RGB data of this area, so I had to use the P(pseudo)RGB settings to obtain the stars with the most likely natural color and integrate them into a pure SHO image for the nebula, causing the halos around the blue stars from the OIII filter. I will revisit this area when it is back in late Fall to get them.

I did not find any similar image of these 2 Sharpless objects together on Astrobin, so it is almost a debut image 😊.

I like both nebulas and the stream of Hα connecting them. I could give these 2 a nickname since it resembles right away a figure of a "Fabelwesen", but I will refrain from it.

Since the Astrobin rules do not encourage to create a new image with cropped data I chose as an overlay a close up of both nebula. Personally I think that they deserve a separate entry 😊.
